Stephanie Lightfoot
THE
ROCK: What was your motivation
to get into the music business?
Stephanie Lightfoot: I grew up in the
music business. My father, Ernie Fields, was a songwriter. He wrote
the hit songs "Some Kind of Wonderful" and "I’ll
Be Loving You," and we continue to receive royalties from those
songs.
THE ROCK:
How do you classify your music?
Stephanie
Lightfoot: I would say it’s
neo-soul and reggae.
THE ROCK:
You have a very distinct sound as a vocalist, and a very profound
message as a songwriter. How did this happen?
Stephanie
Lightfoot: I started reading
Black and Native American history, and I became an activist in college.
I learned that the best way to get my message across is through
my music.
THE ROCK:
Who are your favorite artists?
Stephanie
Lightfoot: Stevie Wonder, Nina
Simone, Al Green, Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughn, Ray Charles, Etta
James, Bob Marley and John Lennon. I also love the music of Lauryn
Hill and Amel Larrieux.
THE ROCK:
Where does Stephanie Lightfoot want to be five years from now?
Stephanie
Lightfoot: I definitely want
to be international, remain independent, and work with other artists.
I want to help uplift and elevate people to a higher level. Also,
I want to have a large following and have a movement.
THE ROCK:
Thank you, Stephanie.
