The newest and hottest sensation
on the Delmarva is Ms. Jamie Wallop. The buzz is going around
that she is a combination of Beyonce Knowles and Alicia Keys.
She describes herself as a performer, singer and songwriter. "No
matter what I do, I will have honest music," says Wallop.
Jamie Wallop started singing at
the age of 8, and she started playing the piano at the age of
13. After enrolling in a local Performing Arts Theater, she continued
to grow and develop into a well-known and respected singer throughout
the Delmarva. She has headlined concerts at the Delmarva Convention
Center, Salisbury University and in Ocean City, MD. She has also
performed at the Washington, DC Convention Center and the internationally-known
Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Wallop credits her mother and
father for giving her an excellent foundation for the highly competitive
music industry. Her management team, Ndafam, is headed by her
manager, Kathy Wallop, and consist of mostly family members. "I’m
fortunate to have a family that supports me. I have a mom-manager,"
states Wallop.
Besides spending hours in the
studio, Ms. Wallop’s other interests include shopping, traveling
and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Her musical influences include
soul music legends Patti Labelle, Whitney Houston, Gladys Knight
and Aretha Franklin. Neo-soul’s Jill Scott and Angie Stone
also inspire her. "I truly appreciate originality. Music
with meaning is very important to me," says Wallop. She is
also emphatic about not having her image reshaped. Wallop states,
"Money can’t buy me!"
In February of 2003, Ms. Wallop
released her first original 12 track CD entitled, "Quite
Like You" that showcased her vocal talent and songwriting
skills. Jamie Wallop is currently working with City Vibe Records
in Clinton, MD. She is presently planning to release her next
single within a few weeks and a CD within the next few months.
